Roofing Warranties

Roofing warranties, finally explained in plain English.

Three warranties protect every RoofX roof. Here's exactly what each one covers. And what most contractors don't tell you about them.

The Three Warranties

Three layers of protection.

01

Manufacturer Material Warranty

What it covers: Defects in the roofing material itself (shingles, underlayment, flashing). Provided by the manufacturer (GAF, Owens Corning, etc.). Typical length: 25–50 years on residential shingle systems, lifetime on premium systems.

What it does not: Improper installation, storm damage, normal wear. This is where the next two warranties matter.

02

RoofX Workmanship Warranty

What it covers: Anything that goes wrong because of how we installed the roof. Leaks at flashing, missed nail patterns, ventilation issues. If it's our work, we fix it. At no charge to you.

What it does not: Length: 10 years on most installs. Specifics confirmed in writing at job completion.

03

Storm Coverage (where applicable)

What it covers: Storm damage during the warranty period. Typically tied to the manufacturer's enhanced warranty programs (e.g., GAF Golden Pledge, Owens Corning Platinum Protection).

What it does not: How RoofX helps: we walk you through exactly which manufacturer warranty to elect at install. Most homeowners don't realize there are tiers. And the wrong tier could mean thousands in out-of-pocket later.

Pro Tip

Questions to ask any roofer.

We welcome these questions. If a roofer dodges them, that’s your answer.

  • What's the workmanship warranty length, in writing?
  • Which manufacturer enhanced warranty are you offering, and at which tier?
  • Is the warranty transferable if I sell my home?
  • What voids each warranty?
  • What's the process for filing a warranty claim?
  • Will you be the one handling warranty calls. Or is that on the manufacturer?
