Reliable Residential and Commercial Roofing Services in Turkey Creek, FL

Home improvement DIY shows make renovations look easy. While some house projects easily fall into the DIY realm, taking on significant repairs is not advisable. For example, the skills of a trained roofer can’t be matched by watching YouTube videos. Taking on this kind of project could cost more in the long run if mistakes occur that need to be corrected later.

A good roofing contractor has the necessary skills and knowledge to handle this work. They have been in the industry for a long time and have proven their worth through their experience. Aside from being well-trained, a professional also has the necessary tools to accomplish the task.

Turkey Creek, Florida

Turkey Creek, Florida, is a quiet community in Hillsborough County. While folklore attributes the name to the large turkey population that once existed in the area, Turkey Creek is now known for something entirely different.

In the 1920s, the farming community took to strawberry farming. They were so successful that they declared themselves the “winter strawberry capital of the world.” Because the school calendar coincided with the strawberry picking season, the academic institutions in the town would shut down for three months to facilitate this activity. These schools became known as “strawberry schools.” The Historic Turkey Creek High School was the first one built.

After much uproar and debate, the “strawberry system” was abolished in 1956. There was great concern about what would happen to the school, but football saved the day. The first football game was played in 1944, and under Coach Herb Bonar, the school team broke records. With 26 wins under their belt, they earned themselves the distinction of producing Florida’s longest winning streak. Football saved the school, and the team went on to win six championships in the Tampa Bay Conference.

Eventually, the Historic Turkey Creek High School was converted into a middle school. However, it still stands today, a reminder of the town’s history.

Our Roofing Services in Turkey Creek, FL

Shingle Roof:

Shingle roofs are made from panels that overlap on a pitched roof. Shingles are created from asphalt, bitumen, and other such materials. The advantage of this kind of roof is that it’s lightweight and can be installed on any type of roof. Shingles are also less expensive than many other roofing options.

Tile Roof:

Tile roofs are traditionally made from materials such as slate or terracotta. Modern designs now use more versatile materials such as concrete and plastic.

The tiles are usually hung in overlapping rows and held in place with nails. Some tiles must be reshaped to fit areas where the pitches of the roof meet. Installing a tile roof requires special training. Well-trained roofers can correctly install or repair a tile roof of any size or pitch.

Metal Roof:

Metal roofs are very durable. A properly installed one can handle high winds, resist water damage, is fireproof, and lasts about 50 years. Another feature that increases their durability is their ability to resist rot and insect damage.

Flat Roof:

Flat roofs also date back thousands of years, like tile roofs. They were more common in warmer climates where homeowners could use them as lounge areas to catch a cool breeze. Today, commercial buildings and warehouses commonly use flat roofs the most.

Roof Repairs:

One of the most critical components of a home is its roof, as it protects from the elements. Therefore, having a durable and functional roof is essential. If it begins to sag, leak, or show any signs of deterioration, enlisting the aid of a professional roofer is necessary. Many offer emergency and non-urgent services to ensure their clients have a solid roof that will protect them and their belongings.

Roof Inspection:

Most roofing associations recommend that home and business owners schedule annual roof inspections. These procedures will ensure the safety and structural integrity of their roofs. Hire a professional roofing specialist to perform these inspections for residential and commercial properties. Those with experience can quickly spot any areas that might need attention.

Skylight Installation / Replacement:

A skylight can be a great addition to the home. It can also improve the energy efficiency of the property. A professional is best when installing a skylight to ensure it is done correctly. Doing so will help the building retain heat in the winter and provide cooling in the summer.

The roof is one of the most critical parts of the home.
