Filing the claim with the insurance company

After inspection, the homeowner should contact the insurer and file a claim. Typically, they give a homeowner a claim number and the date when the adjuster will come to do an assessment.

Most roofing companies help homeowners report the claim. Also, they might offer contingency agreements to represent the homeowner in the claim process. When the claim succeeds, they take over the repair or replacement work.

After filing a claim, an insurance company sends an adjuster to assess the homeowner’s roof. Afterward, they prepare a report that the insurance company will reference.

Evaluation of the report

Insurance companies don’t accept all claims. After receiving the adjuster’s report, the insurer evaluates it to determine whether the homeowner’s claim is legitimate.

If they do, a homeowner gets an email notification with the compensation details. It includes the damages the insurance company will pay for, the amount of work needed to restore the roof, and the amount the homeowner will receive.

Roof repair and replacement

The insurance company sends the homeowner the first check to commence the repair or replacement work. The homeowner should use it to pay the roofing company for materials, labor, and other related expenses.

After the work is complete, the roofing company should send an invoice to the insurance company and other associated documents. When satisfied, the insurer will release the last check, and the process will be complete.
